New Blog Template

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Please let me know what you think about the new blog template. I am particularly interested in knowing about things that might need fixing, such as broken links, and possible issues related to Windows platforms (for which I was able to do some testing) and Apple platforms (for which I have no data).

Thanks for your help and, as always, thanks for stopping by.

Yo, Gus! Or should I say, Whoa, Gus! You changed your theme the very same day John Cook changed his. Too much change much too fast! No!!!

I noticed that. He announced it soon after I'd noticed he hadn't posted in several days.

Thanks, Mike.

I find the text to be so large that it's uncomfortable to read on my monitor, personally.

Hi Jenn,

Interesting and, not to make light of your discomfort, amusing, as my changes were inspired in part by this posting.

Is it possible that you have browser settings for blog's old template that are increasing the font size beyond what it already is?

Let me know what browser you are using and, if it wouldn't be too inconvenient, send me a screenshot if it shows up this way after you clear your settings.

While I can't guarantee that I'll change anything, I can't discount the possibility that there is a real problem and would appreciate he help in catching it.

Thanks,

Gus

Yo, Gus, now that I've looked through it some, I like the new template. It's especially convenient showing than the five latest comments.

Thanks, Snedcat. I got the "comments" link to point to the start of the comments by fixing the old, broken template code for that. I left out the five latest, in part because its being a Google widget meant I couldn't fix its choking on punctuation (not even "smart" quotes, at that).

Based on out click counts, it appears that people generally find the new blogroll more useful, even though it is no longer in a sidebar.
