On Objectivism

Martin Lindeskog posts a good midweek lineup over at Ego. Be sure to check it out.

On Blogging

Also, I just noticed that The Undercurrent was inadvertently removed from my link list in the aftermath of last week's Blogger template fiasco. Whenever I get around to my next round of blog improvements, this entry by Felipe and this one by the General look like they might come in handy. I'm loggin' 'em now for future reference.

On Benedict's Sense of Priorities

Blair has a good post over at Secular Foxhole concerning what Benedict XVI, a man with a pretty full hopper, has decided to do first: "[Benedict has] publicly denounced both J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter for (get this) 'undermining the soul of Christianity.'" And what stands lower in the pecking order? Almost everything else, including, revealingly enough, the problem of pedophilia and church coverups of same in the American Church.

Is preventing the psychological devastation of sexual abuse less important, Benedict, than preventing children from reading a book about a young boy with talent -- a boy who develops this talent through hard work and becomes confident? Might a failure do do the former, the choice to do the latter, or both, as you seem to have decided upon, help stunt the intellectual and psychological growth of the next generation of Catholic children? Is this what you want? Your answers are very revealing. Thank you for your candor. At least the more alert members of your flock might be able to see more clearly where you would lead them....
