North Korean Oil Supply Safe

Saturday, May 07, 2005

Just this Thursday, I said, "The fact that China has failed to get North Korea [back to the six-party talks] is in and of itself very revealing. Apparently, the Chi-Comms aren't all that worried about North Korea launching anything their way."

Apparently, the Chinese agree with me. They have refused to cut off North Korea's oil supply on the strength of a patently ridiculous excuse: "Chinese government officials rebuffed the U.S. idea, claiming it would damage their pipeline...."

Plainly, they're more worried about having a damaged pipeline than getting nuked, if you believe that this would damage their pipeline. If you don't believe it (I don't.), then the only conclusion is that they don't give a rat's behind about stopping North Korea. If the Bush administration has a grain of sense, they will be glad to have gotten this information out of the Chinese and will be preparing to act upon it.

It's time to quit consulting with China on this matter. At best, they aren't worried enough about North Korea. At worst, they are happy for us to have this problem and are aiding the North Koreans.
