Or: What "Center-Left" Means to the Media

Writing for the Federalist, Joshua Lawson delves into the media's predictable and dishonest description of vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris as "center-left," mentioning that her voting record puts her to the left of every other senator but Elizabeth Warren.

Of course, this is a conservative publication and, as those of us in the liberty movement are well aware, some of those votes will likely have been on matters, like abortion and immigration, that conservatives routinely take anti-freedom positions on. So that's a red flag, but nearly meaningless by itself.

Fortunately, Lawson takes the time to tick off a few of Harris's biggest sins:

Harris was a co-sponsor of the utterly insane Green New Deal, a co-sponsor to Sanders's "Medicare For All" scheme to socialize America's health-care system, and is on record advocating a repeal of the 2017 Republican tax cuts that helped create the conditions for the booming pre-pandemic American economy.

...

In a CNN Town Hall in October, Harris emphatically stated that she is in favor of banning both fracking and offshore drilling. On the whole, Harris's recently proposed energy policies veer far into the doomsday scenarios peddled by the radical left, accompanied by drastic "solutions." [bold added, links removed]

On top of these, Harris not only supported AB-5 -- a measure in California that has outlawed contracting and threatens such business arrangements as franchising -- she co-sponsored Bernie Sanders's nationwide version in 2018.

So there you have it: The woman who, if elected, will be one of Joe Biden's heartbeats away from the Presidency, actively wants to take away (at least): reliable power, freedom in medicine, and freedom to work on one's own terms as a contractor.
