Over at Capitalism Magazine ...
... my recent post on a conservative proposal to regulate Google's search results reappears.

A friend of mine, ...
... who recently became the second person to encounter my blog and realize who I am, blogs over at Three Sources under the name Cyrano. He seems to like some aspects of Ted Nugent's political philosophy, which he graciously shared during a recent interview.
"What do these deer think when they see you coming?" I ask him. "Here comes the nice guy who puts out our dinner? Or, there's the man that shot my brother?Stupid Republican Tricks
"I don't think they're capable of either of those thoughts, you Limey assh*le. They're only interested in three things: the best place to eat, having sex and how quickly they can run away. Much like the French."
Gideon Reich notes that Bush is now proposing exactly what John Kerry proposed we do concerning Iran. He quotes Kerry:
With respect to Iran, the British, French, and Germans were the ones who initiated an effort without the United States, regrettably, to begin to try to move to curb the nuclear possibilities in Iran. I believe we could have done better. I think the United States should have offered the opportunity to provide the nuclear fuel, test them, see whether or not they were actually looking for it for peaceful purposes. If they weren't willing to work a deal, then we could have put sanctions together. The president did nothing. [emphasis added]This also what the leftist Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists advocated after describing Iran's capabilities even several years ago in lurid detail and then bloodlessly calling them "impressive". (And, incidentally, their silly "Doomsday Clock" remains stuck at seven minutes to midnight.)
I'd far rather Bush listen to his own campaign rhetoric than this. As it is this makes me wonder whether the chameleon might be a more apt mascot than the elephant for the Republicans.
(Although their preoccupation with gay marriage during a war and just prior to an election makes even this speculation overly generous on my part.)

Being overly generous to Republicans has cost this country over and over for many decades now.

Craig,
Decades? I was tempted to correct you at first, until I thought for a moment. You are either making a profound point or you have caused me to make a good connection....
Indeed, if we think of the Republicans being regarded as the actual alternative to the Democrats -- which they are not -- then whether the Republicans held power or not over the past several decades is immaterial to the following point: That idea, the false "liberal vs conservative" alternative has perhaps artificially limited the political debate in this counrty for way too long.
