Progressing Backwards

Considering the essential idea behind ObamaCare, Thomas Sowell indirectly shows us the absurdity of the self-congratulatory "progressive" label leftists are so fond of:

Who decides what is "substandard"? What is older than the idea that some exalted elite know what is good for us better than we know ourselves? Obama uses the rhetoric of going "forward," but he is in fact going backward to an age when despots told everybody what they had better do and better not do. [bold added]

That paragraph, nearly unchanged, could fit in equally well with a description of just about any other program, especially economic, favored by leftists. It amazes me that they can accuse opponents of sounding like a broken record while remaining oblivious to their own unimaginative monotony.
