AOC's Actual Priorities

Writing at RealClear Politics, Ben Shapiro does an admirable job of laying out the following facts regarding the ongoing debate over socialism in America:

  1. American socialists are mostly silent about the crisis in socialist Venezuela, except to claim that Venezuela isn't "really" socialist; and
  2. Scandinavians themselves disagree that their countries, which the same crowd uses as an example of socialism, are socialist.
In addition, Shapiro takes note of what American socialists are and are not saying about Venezuela. More revealing than even he seems to realize in the following:

... Democratic Party Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has remained shockingly silent about Venezuela, except to tell The Daily Caller News Foundation, "I think that, you know, the humanitarian crisis is extremely concerning but, you know, when we use non-Democratic means to determine leadership, that's also concerning, as well."
This is the same person who is pushing a fantastically larcenous and dictatorial "mobilization" of essentially all aspects of American society based on the alleged rationale that there is an emergency and we have only a decade to act.

Let's think about this: We are to put someone like this in charge of such things as entire industries, the houses we live in, and even the food we eat because there is an emergency. And yet, in the face of an actual, life-and-death emergency -- with people waiting to help and the "leadership" stopping them at gunpoint -- this elected official can only bring herself to profess concern about the very process that put Nicolas Maduro in power -- and by which she hopes to acquire a similar measure of power over others.

Talk about "concerning"...
