Two Disturbing Pieces on Race

Two recent pieces in the New York Post provide timely warnings about the "multiculturalist" left. The first, by Abe Greenwald, discusses a piece by a leftist intellectual about five steps she expects white people to take when accused of racism. Greenwald correctly summarizes her program as:

[I]insulting to the project of a multi-ethnic United States, because it blatantly endorses social division along racial lines. And it is an insult to justice, because it forecloses the very possibility of innocence. [bold added]

Rebecca Hains farcically tells her targeted audience, "you're not on trial." Of course not, because it is clear that she does not regard such a formality as required or desired for conviction and sentencing. This is her second step, which insultingly follows her first, which dismisses all relevant, individual context for the accused:

"Remember the broader context." [(!)] Hains explains: "The United States was built on the enslavement of black people, and some forms of structural racism persist in our laws and culture. If you grew up in the United States, you were socialized within this system." [bold added]

This is racism, as Ayn Rand put it decades ago:

Racism claims that the content of a man's mind (not his cognitive apparatus, but its content) is inherited; that a man's convictions, values and character are determined before he is born, by physical factors beyond his control. [bold added]

Greenwald correctly identifies the motive of such sentencings-by-accusation as destruction, before recommending directly confronting false accusations of racism.

This article alone is highly valuable, but I would be remiss not to include another, in which Andy Ngo, catalogs a series of fabricated racial incidents reported as fact and then consigned to the memory hole once they turned out to be false. His story should serve as a warning to everyone, regardless of color. (I can't believe I'm having to use that last phrase in 2019!)

It's no surprise that children lie, but when they are rewarded by an all-too-willing media and audience, we should expect more incidents like what happened in Virginia. The final result: Americans are bound to become ever more cynical and skeptical of hate-crime [sic and see P.S.] allegations -- even when they're true. [bold added]

The last sentence here should give pause even to those who may take the likes of Hains as well-intentioned. If the "journalists" and "activists" who reliably fan the flames of anger and indignation on the words of children -- and fail at even the basic first steps of gathering and evaluating facts -- were even remotely serious about fighting racism, they would do the very things they are failing to do with the utmost diligence, and they would make it a point to retract any errors on their part.

No good cause can be aided by the ideas or tactics of a bad cause, but great evil can certainly be accomplished that way. White people will be only the first (obvious) victims of the presumptions that (1) facts don't matter, (2) people do not have free will, and yet (3) that people can be rightly persecuted for the original sin of "racism."

P.S. So thoroughly has the left dominated and perverted discourse about race that I failed to notice the term "hate-crime" until I looked at this blog post a few hours later. I do not know Mr. Ngo, but I suspect from context that his use of that term is only as shorthand for something like "racially-motivated crime." In any case, I here note that I do not use this term myself or approve of it since it was created to help in efforts to violate freedom of speech.
