Four Wins

A Friday Hodgepodge

Whenever possible, I list three wins at the end of each day. Here are a few from a recent review of my planner.

***

1. Apparently minutes after we left home for a few days, the power glitched, knocking out my main computer.

Fortunately, I'd decided last year to repurpose an old Chromebook as a backup for automated tasks (like news gathering). It purrerd away in a cabinet the whole time, never missing a beat.

Hooray for redundancy!

2. In the most recent episode of delivery companies think you don't make plans or have a life, I got called by Lowe's while I was driving my son to the orthodontist.

Our new lawn furniture arrived two weeks early (Yippee?) and they wanted to know what to do.

"Leave it," I said.

I found a shrink-wrapped shipping pallet holding four heavy boxes on our driveway when I got home.

Since I move a lot, I own my own dolly, and it was nice being able to move all that stuff to the back porch unassisted.

3. After a year of being on the fence about an upstairs remodel, which we decided against (Thank you, Presidents Trump and Biden!), we're finally moving the rest of the way into our house.

Thanks to the 20-10 cleaning strategy Rachel Hoffman details in Unf*ck Your Habitat, we've been making progress on this while remaining sane and having time to do other things.

Just yesterday, in twenty short minutes, I made a few small changes to the way a closet was set up and now have a good, possibly permanent, solution to bed linen storage.

I can't recommend the book enough.

4. Between being able to move linens out of the laundry room, and being able to organize the hangers after I install some hanger holders this weekend, I'll finally have a space at home organized the way I want.

Today the laundry room, tomorrow, the rest of the house!
