Four Wins

A Friday Hodgepodge

Whenever possible, I list three wins at the end of each day. Here are a few from a recent review of my planner.

1. I had to stop by Target mid-week for groceries and accidentally found Grillo's pickles in stock.

My daughter and I love these, and I hadn't seen them in stores near home here since our move from Florida, despite the fact that a couple of places in New Orleans proper have them.

2. Most summers, my in-laws vacation in Maine, and they sometimes mail us live lobsters towards the end of their stay. The lobsters arrived yesterday.

Delish!

3. This avid Arsenal fan was thrilled to learn yesterday that attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze will be joining the team.

Not only is this guy a fantastic player who brings something different to the team, his story is inspiring:
It is understood [Crystal Palace owner Steve] Parish had reluctantly agreed a fee with Spurs that in effect matched Eze's expired release clause of £67.5m, albeit with them paying less than the £60m they had asked for up front and with more bonuses included. Arsenal were well aware Palace wanted immediate funds for a replacement and were ready with an offer that satisfied both sides.

Their trump card, however, was Eze. He has made no secret of his continued affiliations to the club that released him from their academy at the age of 13, even if the scars of rejection took a long time to heal. "It's one of the hardest battles I've had," he told the BBC before the FA Cup final in May. "Because of what Arsenal meant to me at the time, I had tears rolling down my face."

He was also rejected by Fulham, Reading and Millwall before finally convincing Queens Park Rangers to give him a chance in 2016 as he was preparing to enrol in a local college and start working part-time at Tesco.
It doesn't hurt that Arsenal bested their arch-rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, for his signature, either.

Welcome home, Eberechi!

4. Regulars here might wonder what happened to an occasional blog feature, that I most recently titled "Notable Commentary."

Part of the answer that I face the good problem of having too many Objectivist commentators to keep up with. Another part is that I hadn't figured out what to do instead.

My answer will be to not worry about finding or posting everything, and just present four from time to time.

This new feature, the Freedom Four, won't focus exclusively on politics any more than Notable Commentary did, and rather than simply list teaser quotes, I'll present longer excerpts, as I do with blog roundups.
